Cases – Global Business Outsourcing (GBO)-Internship Assignment

For this assignment I was instructed to create a crate/case for skins of my own design, in three different tiers. (Tiers 1-3) and with a main color scheme: Orange, Gray and Black for each of the tiers, and to have two angles for the render: Front and 3/4 View.

I concepted the design of the case designs for each tier on my iPad using procreate, showed it to my supervisor to get a green light.

I then moved to modeling it, and suggested to my supervisor that we can have both an open and closed model. It did add extra work but I openly volunteered for it. I also thought it would be a good idea to add the interior case foam which would add to the design.

I used a free commercial foam texture that I used on the internet for the interior of open case models

Tier 1 (Open & Closed) – Front
Tier 1 (Open & Closed) – 3/4
Tier 2 (Open & Closed) – Front
Tier 2 (Open & Closed) – 3/4
Tier 3 (Open & Closed) – Front
Tier 3 (Open & Closed) – 3/4

Applications Used:

Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag 5

Conclusion:

This assignment gave me more creative freedom on a larger-scale project—designing skin crates. I created both open and closed variants, optimizing topology and meshes before texturing and rendering. While I initially considered a high-to-low hard surface pipeline, I chose a more efficient approach to ensure strong results within the timeframe.
